Nikki celebrated her 40th birthday with a backyard Las Vegas Casino Party that incorporated the launch of the Spark Discovery Foundation.
From the very beginning, this event was designed to be more than a birthday celebration. It was a multi-faceted evening that brought together personal milestones, philanthropy, and thoughtful design incorporating Nikki’s favorite things. Guests gathered not only to toast Nikki’s 40th year, but also to support the launch of her new nonprofit, the Spark Discovery Foundation, with donations encouraged in lieu of gifts along with a raffle featuring three donated prizes.
The evening also honored Nikki’s impressive professional achievements. As the youngest recipient of a University of Washington award recognizing excellence in research and scholarship, Dr. Nikki Gentile was celebrated for her work and dedication. The programming intentionally created space to acknowledge both the personal and professional moments that made this night so special.
Designing a Backyard Vegas Experience
With Nikki’s lifelong love of blackjack as inspiration, the design leaned fully into classic Las Vegas casino vibes.
Rich reds, golds, and black set the foundation, layered with sequined linens and dramatic pieces that added texture and glamour.
Transforming a private backyard in Lake Forest Park into a black-tie, elevated casino environment was no small feat, but one that proved incredibly rewarding.
Casino-inspired elements were woven throughout the event to bring the theme to life in a bold yet refined way. Nikki’s stunning red gown was the perfect addition!
A Casino Night with Heart
Blackjack took center stage for the evening, a nod to Nikki’s childhood memories of learning the game from her grandfather at just seven years old. In a full-circle moment, Nikki became a celebrity dealer for the night, dealing hands to friends and family, including her son. Alongside blackjack, guests enjoyed Texas Hold’em poker and craps, rounding out the casino experience. The top two chip winners were rewarded with special bottles of wine, adding an extra layer of excitement.
Italian-Inspired Fare and Sweet Finishes
Dessert continued the theme with a custom cake designed in black, red, and gold, adorned with playing card imagery that tied perfectly into the casino aesthetic.
