Incorporating both of their Korean and Chinese heritages was an important party of Chris and Jennifer’s September wedding at Novelty Hill – Januik Winery.
Prior to guests’ arrival for their western ceremony, Chris and Jennifer held a Chinese Tea Ceremony as well as a traditional Korean Paebaek Ceremony with their immediate families.
The Chinese Tea Ceremony is a beautiful way for couples to honor their parents by expressing their gratitude as they head into their wedding day. Steeped in tradition, the Korean Paebaek Ceremony symbolizes the unification of the two families. Our favorite part might just be watching couples try and catch chestnuts and dates. For this part of the Paebaek Ceremony parents will throw dates and chestnuts as the bride and groom attempt to catch them in the bride’s apron. According to legend, the number of dates and chestnuts caught represent how many boys (dates) and girls (chestnuts) they would have.
Following the traditional ceremony Chris and Jennifer changed into their wedding attire that would lead them to an evening of love, laughter, dancing, dessert and more dancing!
Chris and I just want to thank you for making the whole day possible— everything went so smoothly! Credit really goes to you.
We had a great time working with you. You were always several steps ahead of us, troubleshooting. You made sure everyone had enough to eat and drink and kept us on schedule!
~ Jennifer
