Kara & Nicholas’ wedding day began at The Edgewater where they shared their first look then headed off to Woodland Park Zoo to visit the penguins and take a ride on the carousel before saying their I Do’s in the Rose Garden! The Rose Garden was in full bloom as guests arrived that afternoon. As the ceremony got underway the couple’s nieces and nephews processed down the aisle, handing both the couples mothers and grandmother each a mini bouquet. During the ceremony Kara and Nicholas wrote love letters to each other to read at a future date along with ‘adventure’ notes which described adventures that they want to experience together. After the ceremony loved ones wandered the rose gardens and had the opportunity to get up close to a Northern Saw-whet Owl. Post ceremony Kara surprised Nicholas with a Rolls Royce as they led the way to The Edgewater for their reception. A Wishing Tree, handmade by the bride, featured tree ‘bark’ crafted from book pages that grew out of a stack of books. The reception featured a few quirky German traditions as well as custom artwork and signage to carry through the woodland creature theme. Our favorite piece included the Escort chalkboard that was displayed on a tall log cross-section correlating to the guest tables named after the couple’s favorite literary novels. Wildflower centerpieces were paired with book-related decor, stump rounds, fresh moss and votives. Plantable paper foxes that would soon sprout wildflowers were give as favors.
